Outspoken influencer calls out power authorities as ‘Dumsor’ returns to Accra suburbs.

Popular TikTok creator Akosua Diqson has released a scathing video criticising the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) following days of unannounced blackouts across parts of Accra and Tema.

The influencer, known for her energetic skits and unapologetic commentary, appeared visibly frustrated in the video. “Why are we still doing this in 2025?” she asked, pointing out her spoiled food, failed appliances, and a cancelled paid livestream.

Her video quickly went viral, amassing over 300,000 views within 24 hours. Thousands of users resonated with her complaints, citing similar experiences across the city.

The ECG has yet to respond publicly to the growing frustrations, but unofficial sources suggest load management is being conducted due to ongoing maintenance on major transmission lines.

Many online users hailed Akosua as “the voice of the people,” encouraging her to keep speaking out on pressing issues. Others shared screenshots of their electricity bills, wondering why service didn’t match cost.

This isn’t the first time Akosua has touched on national matters. From taxes to health services, she’s gained a loyal following for blending humor with critique.

As blackouts continue in some areas, the pressure on ECG to provide answers is mounting. And thanks to voices like Akosua’s, it’s becoming harder for the company to ignore.
