Putting Himself on the Red List of Victims: That was What the Wontumi FM Presenter Labeled Himself After His Arrest for Reported Statements on the Helicopter Crash
Kofi Asare of Wontumi FM on label of “strong” and “hero” following his arrest over allegations that implicated the head of state in the Obuasi helicopter crash.

Wontumi FM presenter Kofi Asare has stood firm after his arrest on charges of insinuating that President Mahama and some top officials of the NDC were involved in the fatal helicopter crash near Obuasi. In a video released today, an apparently oxygen-deprived Asare in handcuffs and flanked by police officers declared, “I am strong. I am strong. I am the hero,” attempting to draw a parallel between himself and the elephant, a symbol of the NPP.
He then encouraged families of the deceased to hold the NDC leadership to account, mentioning names such as Asiedu Nketia and calling for the replacement of Samuel Sarpong. The National Security has since launched an interrogation, while Wontumi Radio is said to have sacked him.
