Spain — Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Partey made a return to action on Saturday, coming off the bench in the second half as Villarreal secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Girona in La Liga.
Partey was introduced at the start of the second half, replacing a midfield colleague in the 46th minute, as Villarreal tightened their grip on the game. The Yellow Submarine had already shown dominance in the first half, but Partey’s entry further stabilized their midfield, ensuring complete control until the final whistle.
The Black Stars midfielder, who recently joined Villarreal, has been gradually working his way into match fitness. His performance on the night was described as “composed and effective,” with sharp passing and solid defensive cover that gave the forwards freedom to push higher.
Villarreal’s goals came through a stunning attacking display that overwhelmed Girona, a side known for their strong season form. The emphatic 5-0 scoreline was one of Villarreal’s biggest wins of the season and further lifted morale in their camp.

For Ghanaian fans, Partey’s minutes will come as good news ahead of upcoming national team assignments, especially as coach Otto Addo continues to build his squad around experienced players in top European leagues.

With this commanding win, Villarreal also boosted their position in the La Liga table, while Partey looks set to earn more minutes as he integrates fully into the Spanish side’s system.
