The Ghana Football Association (GFA) now raises match fees for referees to ₵2,500, with insurance and equipment support also being granted.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced a huge remuneration package for referees with effect from the 2025/26 football season. FIFA-accredited referees are to receive ₵2,500 per match, while non-FIFA referees involved in Premier League matches are to receive ₵2,000. Their counterparts in Division One League and Women’s Premier League will get ₵1,000 per match.

Besides the increment in match fees, all 280 referees from the three leagues will enjoy a welfare package that consists of insurance, gear such as boots and uniforms, and 50% discounted travel fares by the STC. GFA President Kurt Okraku stressed that this move is an intervention towards the welfare of referees in hopes of improving the standard of officiating in Ghanaian football.
