Adansi Brofoyeduru, Ashanti Region — A tragic scene unfolded earlier today in the quiet community of Adansi Brofoyeduru as a suspected aircraft crash triggered a massive fire outbreak, leaving at least four people feared dead and several others injured.
According to eyewitnesses, a loud explosion was heard around midday, followed by thick plumes of black smoke rising into the sky. Residents rushed toward the source, only to discover what appeared to be the burning wreckage of an aircraft engulfed in flames amidst nearby structures and vegetation.
Local authorities have yet to confirm the exact type of aircraft involved—whether it was military, private, or commercial. However, unconfirmed reports suggest it may have been a light aircraft or drone that lost control and plummeted to the ground, causing widespread panic and destruction in its wake.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene to combat the blaze and assist victims. Despite their rapid response, the fire reportedly claimed the lives of at least four individuals, with others battling severe burns and trauma.
District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adansi South has described the incident as “devastating” and confirmed that an emergency task force is working alongside aviation and security experts to investigate the cause of the crash and assess the extent of the damage.
“We’re doing everything possible to secure the area, account for victims, and ensure that residents are safe,” the DCE said in a brief press statement.
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has also been alerted and is expected to release a statement after initial assessments. Meanwhile, rescue efforts continue as investigators comb the wreckage for clues.
